An office-led development of 100,000 sqm, stitched into the surrounding neighbourhood of Southwark with a network of public spaces, new routes, cafes and retail.
Bankside 123 was a major project for Allies and Morrison, which marked the renewal of the urban wider area of Bankside, close to the City of London and in the shadow of Tate Modern. The three simple rectilinear buildings are ‘carved’ through the 2.5 hectare site, creating a permeable area with a series of outdoor rooms for tenants, visitors and local residents to walk through and dwell in. Arranged around day-lit atria, each building responds to a complex geometry.
Light and Shadow
The Blue Fin Building has been 'patinated' with randomly distributed, angled fins, not only to shade its glassy skin but also to bring its surface to life in depth and shadow as the sun moves through the day.
