Donna Macfadyen


Donna Macfadyen is an Architect and Urban Designer, who was part of Makower Architects inception, in early 2014. She studied Architecture Part I at Cambridge University,  her Part II at London Metropolitan University and her Part III with RIBA North West in 2017.

Donna brings a wealth of varied experience to the practice, working in close collaboration with Tim on a number of projects.  At an urban scale Donna has worked on masterplans for Cambridge, Hayes and Harlington, Old Kent Road, and the International Quarter Stratford. International masterplans include the highly commended  Regeneration Masterplan Zone 15 &16 in Doha, and the Urban Design Compendium for Qatar.

At an architectural scale, Donna has experience designing a variety of buildings, from large scale office and retail buildings, to bespoke and complex Listed properties in Conservation Areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  She has particular expertise in guiding complex projects through the planning process; coordinating with different stakeholders, consultants, relevant members of the Council and other interested bodies.

At a detail scale, Donna designs unique textures and decorative patterns for the practice's projects.

Donna is part of the Business Development arm of the practice, overseeing graphic design and production, branding and website development. She also contributes to marketing and business strategy. She is the coordinator for internships and work experience carried out in the office.

Outside office hours, Donna is an Opera singer.  Roles in 2017 included  Adele in Die Fledermaus for Opera Integra in Nottinghill,, Violetta in La Traviata at the Llangollen International Music Festival and Leonora in Il Trovatore in London. She is also a keen concert performer, giving regular lunchtime concert performances across London.


Donna will be cycling to MIPIM in March 2018, raising money for Coram children’s charity.
