Jörn Rabach


Jörn is an Associate Director at Makower Architects, working closely with Tim, to lead the design and delivery of major projects.  Jörn’s experience crosses all stages from conceptual design through delivery on site, a versatility that makes him particularly suited to complex projects

Jörn is German and trained at the Technical University of Darmstadt . He has worked for several architectural and industrial design offices, including Allies and Morrison, where he worked on the London headquarters of the Rambert Dance Company, a building with a complex mix of performance, rehearsal and support spaces on a constrained urban site. Jörn’s remit was to help ensure the delivery of the client's high design aspirations under the Design and Build procurement route.

Jörn also led the design for a local mosque in the Msheireb masterplan in Doha, Qatar as well as working on the design of a series of high quality town houses for the same client. Jörn worked closely with the Partner in charge of the project, helping to define the residential brief and developing the practice’s approach to the local residential culture and to the particular aspirations of the developer client. He also had a particular remit to co-ordinate the practice’s work with the Executive Architect in order to ensure the accurate translation of Design Intent into construction information.

örn is working on a number of projects including a major residential development, large scale infrastructure projects  and the Glazed Court at Rode Hall which aims to restore the original servants’ wing of a Grade II listed house in Cheshire, UK.  Jörn  is also responsible for the practice IT strategy and a key member of the Senior Management Team.
