The residential buildings at Msheireb are part of the 35 hectare masterplan in Downtown Doha. Comprising 40 large family homes and two mixed-use apartment buildings, The site is arranged as a series of ‘fereej’ clusters, each of which enjoys communal garden spaces and shared majlis buildings.
The Brief from the start of the project was to create homes where Qatari families could feel comfortable living in the heart of the city – to revive one of Doha’s oldest neighbourhoods as a prime residential address.
With a wide variety of architectural responses, the project is a contemporary reinterpretation of Qatari architecture and urban form; both the traditional buildings of stone and timber, and the early modern vernacular.
The site is currently under construction.
