Sidra is a new village of a thousand dwellings for medical staff, on a 9 ha site at Education City, Doha. This is a work of ‘picturesque urbanism’; achieving a friendly and functional environment, with a balance of informality and modularity.
Sidra is centred on a main square with a club-house, a mosque and an arcaded retail parade. Two diagonal avenues lead into the square and four residential quarters are held within a softened grid of main streets, courtyards and lanes. A linear park runs around the perimeter, with a 1km running track.
