HENDON SURGERY
A modern local health centre
Working with the NHS trust, we will deliver a bespoke, modern medical facility for the local community at Hendon Waterside. Replacing the current run-down facility along Broadway, the new surgery will be situated at the entrance of the site on Borthwick Road, just off Broadway.
Positioned at the edge of the masterplan, this building aims to seamlessly connect the existing context with the new development.The small scale of the building minimises its impact on the surrounding plots, while its linear form naturally guides people towards the reservoir.

A WELCOMING AND ACCESSIBLE SPACE
The 675 sqm of internal space within the two-storey structure is divided into three main areas: a public zone (including reception, offices, and waiting areas), a clinical zone (with consulting and treatment rooms) and a staff zone (comprising staff rooms, meeting spaces, offices, and storage areas).
The building follows simple massing principles, stepping back from the boundary line to create a prominent corner that welcomes visitors arriving at the site. Its clean, minimalist form serves as a strong anchor at the entrance to the masterplan.
A subtle yet rich set of details enlivens the facade with overhangs and carved elements giving it a lighter, more playful appearance. The complete redesign of Borthwick Road will enhance the arrival experience, integrating the building with the landscape. A dedicated drop-off zone and ambulance bay along the building will facilitate patient access.
