Andrea Albanese

Associate Director

MArch (Hons), ARB, RIBA, OAR

Andrea trained in Rome. He is a talented architect and urban designer, with a keen interest and sensitivity in aesthetic and spatial forms. Andrea joined Makower Architects in 2014. He has extensive experience in working at different scales and on regeneration projects for brownfield and town centre areas. He is particularly interested in soft-city approaches and passive strategies to improving the everyday life of people. Andrea’s strong organisational skills and interest in digital tools and BIM protocols has led him to establish and optimise Makower's workflows, standards and templates as part of the digital design leadership group, including elements of R&D.

At Makower, Andrea has lead many mixed-use projects, including two plots within the regeneration of the Harrow's Kodak Factory, the masterplan for the town centre in Catford and the design of the tallest tower in in Barking & Dagenham. He also has significant experience in international projects, with a focus on the Middle East, where he developed the masterplan design for a new green community in Al Rayan Gate, half a million square feet of office and retail space for the Qatar Economic Zone and the first heritage-led regeneration project within the state of Qatar, Zones 15-16.
