Paulo Sousa

Paulo joined the team from Portugal, where he trained at the University of Porto. Paulo brings considerable design talent, developed under the expert eye of Pritzker Prize wining Alvaro Siza, as well as delivery expertise working in international and multi-disciplinary projects throughout all stages of design and construction.

In terms of professional experience, Paulo has worked for António Madureira in collaboration with Alvaro Siza, Allies and Morrison, Sergison Bates and Emanuelle et Laurent Beaudouin.

Key projects include the design development and detailing of external and internal façades of a public building in Qatar, design development and detailing of a public building in Belgium, various private houses in Portugal, the design of a Library for the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and an Urban Plan for Montreuil.

Paulo also loves drawing and designing products and appliances and his London desk lamp has been exhibited at POP’S – Projectos Originais Portugueses organized by Serralves Foundation in 2009 and 2014. Paulo is also studying for a PhD at the University of Minho in Guimarães: his research investigates the expanded cork’s use as building’s envelope, and the development of a façade system combining cork with timber.
