Makower Architects is an international practice specialising in Architecture and Urbanism.

Our current UK projects focus on regeneration, mixed-use and housing, including International Quarter London for Lendlease, and Brent Cross South for Argent, a landmark group of residential buildings at West Hendon with fourteen apartment blocks, two twenty story towers and a footbridge, the former Nestle Factory at Hayes, and several building at the former Kodak Factory site in Harrow, all for Barratt London, three residential buildings for St George including a 28 story tower, and in Cambridge three major developments with a mix of civic and residential buildings. Abroad, our work includes a major mixed-use office development of eight buildings and an 80 hectare heritage-led masterplan in the city centre of Doha, Qatar.

Our approach to design, at all scales, is one of ‘contemporary contextualism’ and in the firm’s work there is a fascination in both place and history being the source and ‘seed’ of design. Design should grow out of its context - in time and place - in order to fit in.

All projects begin with Research. History of architecture and urbanism are essential parts of ‘Living Heritage’ where the past and the future are inextricably bound into the present and together work as generators; for projects to grow out of, and thereby fit into.
