1/3 West Hendon Waterside site

Hendon Waterside is one of Northwest London’s major regeneration projects, located near Hendon Station, on the slopes leading down from the Edgware Road to the Welsh Harp Reservoir. It is developed by Barratt London and Metropolitan Housing Association and comprises 2,000 new homes, a school, a community centre and a small amount of retail, all laid out over 13 hectares. The masterplan by Allies and Morrison, which involves the phased renewal of a local authority housing estate, seeks to create a network of urban blocks and public spaces with a primary new green space connecting the Broadway with the water. It comprises four towers at the bottom of the 6m slope, arrayed along the waterside park, two of which are by Makower Architects.

Makower Architects have designed 13 of the buildings at Hendon Waterside, totalling 807 units, and a 175m long footbridge. The first building, which forms the gateway to the development, is now complete.
